C is for...
I am definitely not good at handling money and this is something I should not write on my resume. I spend it when I have it and don't when I don't. So I have decided to save up money this summer. You're probably wondering why now. Me either. It's already summer vacation and my parents aren't going to give me an allowance. Where will I get the money in order to save up? Well... they would probably still send me an allowance since I'm far from home but it would just be something to get me through the summer.
I made it through C! Whew. |
I better look for summer job openings and I might as well cut my expenses. Do you have any tips on how to save money?
I'm still trying to get out of the "it's there, so let's spend it stage." But, if there's one thing I would suggest with saving money, it's to keep a list of every single thing you buy (over a week, a month, whatever works). It'll eventually hit you just how much you're spending and then it's easier to stop because you don't want another thing on the list. At least, that's what worked for me. :)

Well I guess it's now time to look for a notebook and start keeping the receipts. Thanks Jessica!
DeleteSomeone posted this up on Facebook this way to save money.
ReplyDeleteEvery week you put a bit of money into a savings acount.
Week 1 you put $1
Week 2 you put $2
Week 3 you put $3
and so on to week 52 where you deposit $52.
At the end of the year you got $1,378 saved up. I mean who can't do that? It's so ridiculously simple I facepalmed. Never considered doing it in reverse like she suggested on this blog. Next year. If i stay on the wagon.

Genius! This is really helpful. It's pretty simple I can definitely do this. Kinda makes me feel excited too. Thanks Riann! :)
DeleteI used to write checks to myself whenever I had a little extra money. I'd put them in a tin so I could keep track of how much I'd taken out of my checkbook. Sometimes those checks were for $20. Sometimes they were for $2. If I had 152.73 in my checking account, I might write myself a check for $2.73. Tiny amounts added up eventually. Eventually, things got easier and I was able to transfer funds into savings accounts in seconds on the computer. Man, that's so much easier than writing myself checks.

Little by little. It's just really a matter of patience. I hope I'd be patient enough and have little more control on my self when it comes to spending. Thanks for the tip Shannon!
DeleteIt's pretty amazing how it all adds up over time. I throw all my small coins in a jar and there's usually a pizza's worth in there after a couple of months.

Exactly. Even those loose change will come in handy. It sure takes time to save money and a little less time on spending. Thanks for dropping by! :)
DeleteThat's a cute coin bank :). I have many around the house, but I end up opening them cos I need change for something or the other.

Thanks! It was on sale. If converted from our currency to us dollar it would cost for like 4$. Now I'm starting to think it wasn't a wise decision -_- But I couldn't resist buying it.
DeleteMy best advice to save money is to get a stressful job and a house/apartment outside of town. It works fine for me. The job makes me super tired so I never want to go into town to shop...
ReplyDeleteOr maybe have a special bank account and draw money to that account regularly and automatically from your regular account.
Definitely do NOT play the mandolin.. LOL.
I find myself nodding in agreement. So simple why didn't I think of that? Playing mandolin? Oh no... I wouldn't dare. My neighbors might give me a beating. It sounds better when you're the one playing it. >_<
DeleteThanks for dropping by Susanne!
I like the idea above- "get a stressful job". Seriously, surprising how much that actually works out. You make the money, but never have the time to spend it. =) Seems like it would work out for a little while. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Thanks for dropping by Danielle! <3
DeleteIt is nice to have a bit of extra money, maybe you don't need it right now but it will always come in handy.
ReplyDeleteOn your resume you could just put Banker...that's what they do right?
There's no harm sugarcoating... I guess. >_< Thanks for the visit! I really appreciate it :)
Deletei have no change... i have no bank for change, i do like change... everyone needs a little change. my poem to you...

Oh No, Let's Go... Crazy
No. Not at all. I like it. Or am I just simply weird too? But anyways, thanks for hopping by! :)
DeleteGet yourself tin can and glue the lid shut so you can't open it and take anything out. If you can't do that give a few bucks to a friend every week and get them to keep it for you.
ReplyDeleteI think the first one is better than the latter. I'm pretty sure I don't wanna end up penniless and friendless. LOL. Thanks for the visit! :)
DeleteI have no advice since I also don't have a (paying) job so the only money I have to spend is my husband's. Hopefully you can find a fun part-time job to earn a little extra cash.

I hope so too. Thanks for dropping by Tamara! <3
DeleteThat little car coin bank is so cute! I'm sort of the opposite. I'm actually a little too good at saving money, doing without when I should probably spend a little money once in awhile on something fun. I'm just worried that I'll need it for a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I hope I'd be able to do the same thing. Thanks for dropping by Kristen! <3
DeleteStart $1 at a time. Make coffee instead of buying it (if you do) and put away any spare change. You'll see how quickly it adds up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Marta! And thank you for paying a visit. <3
DeleteGreetings from Northern California. I'm stopping by to say HI from the A-Z challenge. Yep you've made it to C.
ReplyDeletePS I struggle with depression too. ;-(
Hello Coffee Lady! How are you dealing with your depression? Thanks for the visit! <3
DeleteI try to volunteer to do laundry duty at home. My kids always leave spare change in their pockets. Sometimes I get the whole allowance back! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL. Lucky for you. :) Thanks for hopping by Bryan! Good luck A-Z-ing!
DeleteNo advice, since I'm not great at saving either. I do, however, try to keep the basics covered with a little left over for other stuff. Guess I can do that 'cause I have a job. Nice to 'meet' you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts and nice to meet you too J.L. :)
DeleteI love your cute lil' red volkswagen beetle bank! Good luck with saving more and the challenge:)
